Rebel Pilates Collective is always looking for studios who share our values to host our program. But why choose RPC? What makes our program unique, other than being the most cost-effective, comprehensive Classical Pilates education you can get? What does it mean to host RPC?
In a fundamental way, hosting RPC shows a commitment to Pilates education as an ongoing practice. We are always learning; whether new scientific information about how the body moves or another trip to the Pilates archives to discover more nuance about the original body of work, our curriculum is structured by welcoming new data and research as necessary. Continuing education beyond primary teacher training is not required, but we very much believe in it. And not just learning formally in future workshops and labs, but learning from each other, collaboratively. After all, that’s part of why new hosts and your communities are so exciting for Rebel: we can’t wait to learn both with you and from you, as no Pilates journey is the same!
Also in your studio, RPC wants to be a part of your efforts to build community. Our modules and student requirements emphasize being in community--it’s no coincidence that students can earn double hours by working together--as well as thinking critically about how movement can bring us together. Rebel Pilates encourages reflecting on how we can best show up for our communities, and responding to the unique ecology of your studio offers a chance to further diversify that practice. Between hosts, students, and faculty, community too is an ongoing project that RPC hopes to cultivate in partnership with you.
Amidst the Pilates boom, RPC also offers two unique benefits: training effective instructors and challenging shortcomings in the Pilates industry.
The two go hand in hand. As we know, the Pilates boom means that teacher training programs, especially those that claim to be “comprehensive,” are popping up everywhere. This leads to a market where prospective teachers are encouraged to choose the shortest, cheapest options. As a result, teachers end up drastically underprepared when hired, endangering their students and the studios that employ them. This danger is physical but also cultural--the fitness industry has continued work to do around inclusivity, and Pilates in particular continues to need to confront racism, fatphobia, and other biases in the studio. Trendy training does little to confront these biases, offering convenience at the expense of rigor. They often don’t even have enough time to include basic, authentic Pilates in their curriculum, let alone training about safety.
As any student will share, Rebel Pilates Collective’s curriculum is deep and rigorous. Following the original method developed by Joseph Pilates with the exercises and apparatus he designed, our curriculum also pays close attention to modern knowledge that revises how we safely practice Pilates and emphasizes safe and inclusive practices that make Pilates welcoming and rewarding. Choosing to host RPC ensures you won’t have to fear a lack of accountability, in education or safety.
If you couldn’t tell, at RPC we believe we’re the best option for hosts who want to bring Pilates teacher training to their space. If you’re looking for a comprehensive course for your studio and you value rigor, safety, and the method itself while honoring exercise science and medical evolution, we’d love to connect with you.
