Comprehensive Mat Pilates Teacher training

Many students will be ready to test out of their mat training intensive by the end of the summer. Studio days are set aside for you to complete as many hours as you can accomodate to achieve graduation in August. For those who need to take a slower approach, that’s always an option, you are welcome to take the time you need.

Required Elements

  • We highly recommend that you acquaint yourself with the fundamentals of Joseph Pilates and allocate at least 75 hours to practice Pilates on your own prior to your first training weekend. This will not only boost your confidence but also provide you with some familiarity to the Pilates system so you can actively participate in the seminar with enthusiasm.

  • 200 hours of combined observation, student teaching and practice.

  • Anatomy & Physiology 1 & 2 at a college level or equivalent before the practicum. We have a course that meets this requirement - see our registration email for information on The Lab | Anatomy or see our FAQ page for a way to do the anatomy requirement for free.

Enrollment includes course audits for life

  • For our mat course you will have one practicum at the end of your three modules once hours and anatomy are also complete. At this time we can test our mat students either in-person or with video submissions (whichever you prefer). Please check on the availability of in-person testing in your location if this is of interest to you.

  • Return to Life by Joseph Pilates is required reading. Titles written by Blandine Calais-Germain, especially Anatomy of Movement are helpful supplements to your anatomy journey. The Anatomy Trail Guide is a valuable anatomy text and can assist a beginner teacher in recognizing and recruiting particular muscles and muscle groups.

“Learning how to understand and recognize postural alignment in a body really helped me understand Pilates as a uniform system, as well as how to organize a flow and have intentional cueing. RPC taught me that!”

— Happy Student Whitney S., obtaining her 2nd certification with PBTT

What’s next?

Once you complete registration you will receive a welcome email explaining the next steps. Your manuals will be waiting for you when you arrive on the first day.  And remember, once a student, always a student. We encourage students to audit modules throughout the program and after graduation. This auditing process takes zero extra financial investment on your part and is an investment we make in you. We invest in our collective by keeping continued development accessible.

We look forward to meeting you and beginning this journey together!
